EVENT DETAILS: 1st National Seminar on Community-Based Rural Tourism 26 - 28 March 2008 Marriott Hotel, Cebu City OVERVIEW: » Rural areas in the Philippines are increasingly becoming popular destinations of city dwellers for a taste of countryside life. » Visitors to rural areas look for the essential four in rural tourism: the attraction, activities, authentic rural food and amenities of the area. » The rise of activities such as trekking, mountain climbing, rafting, bird watching, fishing and other outdoor explorations added to the indigenous food offerings and festivities of a particular area enthralls people from the urban areas to the countryside. » The development of rural tourism is a catalyst in the economic development of a particular province.
